I seriously cried when I saw these two side by side. Then I slammed my keyboard and yelled "SUCK IT, BITCHES", for no apparent reason! This has made my month!
I am going to present to you now a verbal venn diagram of why #2 is better then #1.
Similarities: Both of them I had a tablet, and photoshop.
April: 20 hours of work. I used the shitty pencil tool for EVERYTHING! That is why it is so pixelated! Don't even get me started on the eyes! And the shading was inconsistent, and shitty cell shading. I do not like using that. They hair is hilariously rigid. Also, the anatomy is generally ape-shit, and I had no clue how to do a 3/4th's perspective. And what the heck is up with the background?
September: 8 hours of work. 'Nuff said. I have learned perspective, shading, lighting, how to properly paint, colour harmonies (I seriously spent an hour picking the colours before I painted), anatomy is more realistic and stylized, and I added that epic glow from the light, cut, bruise, and a sharp scowl, entirely changing the mood of the piece.
Also, this is probably the last time I will draw My Little Pony art for awhile.
It is time for me to move on.
